STEAMhouse launches new website and innovation services

Birmingham City University’s centre for collaborative innovation, STEAMhouse has launched a new website and business support services designed to help you solve problems and create new products and services.

Since 2018, the first phase of STEAMhouse has already supported nearly 300 organisations in the Midlands to develop their business. Over 90 innovative new products have been created and 40+ new research collaborations have been established with Birmingham City University academics.

The new STEAMhouse website showcases a range of services designed to support a variety of enterprises from across sectors to overcome product, service and business challenges, and develop new solutions in response. Their new services are offered across three themes:

Support to Startup and Grow

To support startups and growing businesses STEAMhouse offers the STEAM Incubator and their ERDF-funded Prototyping Programme. Both services are designed to give early-stage businesses and entrepreneurial individuals the space, equipment and expertise they need to establish sustainable businesses and build viable new ideas quickly.

Support to Innovate

Designed for SME’s, large businesses, and the public sector, Support to Innovate services include:

  • Adapt and Diversify - customisable strategic innovation support created to help you anticipate future trends and develop an action plan for your business that meets the needs of changing markets.
  • Collaborate for Impact - designed to help public sector organisations re-orientate around what people need, and deliver on it. The team will help you build capability to ensure you continually improve products or services, making them more effective and sustainable.
  • AR/VR Discovery - A showcase service to help you find out how extended reality technologies are transforming your industry. You will explore how AR and VR can solve your problems, increase efficiency and inspire creativity in your business.
  • Paper to Prototype - Paper to Prototype supports enterprises to develop new products and services that meet the needs of fast-changing markets by accessing design and development expertise. The STEAMhouse team and production space will help you move quickly from ideas to market validated, production-ready solutions.
  • Support to Learn - Short courses designed to help you achieve your personal and professional development goals. Participants will acquire the practical skills and knowledge needed to adapt to changes in their industry or career.
